Title: Central messages of various forcasts and scenarios on the longterm perspectives of the global energy supply
Abstract:
Since autumn 2020, various institutions have presented studies on the prospects for the global energy supply in the coming decades. These include international institutions such as the World Energy Council and the International Energy Agency, consulting firms such as McKinsey, DNV-GL and Bloomberg NEV, and energy companies such as BP and Equinor. The methodological approaches in these papers differ. In principle, a distinction can be made between exploratory scenarios, projections and normative scenarios. The studies presented at this point fit differently into these categories. This explains differences in the central results. Nevertheless, clear trends can be derived for the future transformation of global energy supply and the development of greenhouse gas emissions. These will be identified in the Keynote, with the focus also on particularities in China and the rest of the Asia / Pacific region.
